Marvel Reveals The First Time The Power Stone Was Used As A Weapon On Earth

The most recent issue of the Avengers comic book has shed some light on when the power stone was first used on Earth.

We are currently quite literally counting down the days until the release of Avengers: Endgame. We are also still wiping away the tears from the traumatic events that took place at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Yes, it is okay to cry when half of your favorite heroes turn to dust with a full year to wait until you discover what happens next.

Perhaps this time around more so than any other time, Marvel movie fans have turned to the comic books in a desperate search for answers. If you are one of those fans, you have probably gotten yourself even more confused than you were before. With different timelines, story arcs, and universes, it is difficult to tell what turn the movie version of events will take next.

What we now know, thanks to Avengers #13, is the first time the power stone was used on Earth. The comic book flashback revolves around the first ever Iron Fist, Fan Fei the Despised. After being banished to Earth for sneaking out of K'un-Lun, Fan Fei's quest is to protect the planet from a race of man-apes called Gorgillas. It is the king of this race who becomes the first creature to ever wield and use the power stone on Earth.

The king is shown the power stone by a demon called Mephisto. Mephisto previously tried to corrupt Fan Fei but was not successful. After embedding the stone in his hand, the king's upper half turns to what appears to be the same purple stone that the power stone is made from. He then proceeds to seek out The Iron Fist and go to war with her. The pair's conflict ends in a stalemate with Fan Fei being thrown off a cliff by the ensuing explosion caused by their powers colliding.

Strangely, the two parties seemed fine with leaving it at that despite there being no clear winner. However, we are almost certain that it won't be the last time the two of them clash. Fan Fei has refused re-entry into K'un-Lun, opting to continue to defend Earth, and the Gorgilla king presumably still has the power stone embedded in his hand. Someone has to take it from him, and odds are it will be The Iron Fist.
